The final day of our trip. Sad to see it go so fast, but knew it wasn’t going to last forever. Because of M getting up early, Doug fell asleep on the couch with him. I slept in longer, but once I realized they were asleep on the couch decided to start packing up our clothes. Once finished with that, I got in the shower and it wasn’t long before M woke up. Running around as if he hadn’t been awake at ungodly hours, he was his typical happy self. We finished packing and took a leisurly stroll to breakfast.
After finishing there, we packed up our car, cleaned out the room (after Doug thought he left the key in the room, went to the front desk for a new one, only to find the original in his shirt pocket!) Everything was set, we were loaded in the car, and an hour past schedule! We stopped to get sourvenirs before heading to Starbucks. Played at Crandall Park for a while before snacking and heading on our way. By this time, his schedule was all messed up from the hospital that he napped much later than normal. We were going to drive until he woke up as our original destination’s exit passed, only for him to wake up right after the exit! So, the next exit it was. Verona Beach State Park.
The park was extremely busy and we couldn’t swim due to algea blooms. We, instead played on the playground, and made castles in the sand there. M was less than happy to leave for lunch, but we needed to eat.
We ate at a little off-the-path place called Gary’s. A bit slower on service but the food was good and portions large. Also included a salad bar. From there M was definitely not as happy to get in the car, but we needed to get going. It was getting late. We googled a local elementary school and played on their very nice playground for a while. That was fun, even in the rain.
Finally…we had to drive home. By the time M fell asleep, it was probably 8:30ish. Ugh, the poor guy needs to get back into routine, and fast. We made it home, and were happy to have taken the earlier route and the rain was coming down pretty hard. Around 10:00p we walked in the door. I took M upstairs, changed his diaper, but him in pjs, and off to snoozy-land he went.
I didn’t last much longer, I’m afraid. We were both asleep relatively shortly after M, but not for long as M decided to make it another 4:00a night. I really hope this ends soon.
